Avhandlingens namn: "Prospektive 2-year study of early rheumatoid arthritis in Southern Sweden". Docent i reumatologi 1992. Innehar tjänst som biträdande överläkare på reumatologkliniken, Universitets-sjukhuset i Lund. Forskningsinriktningen är, förlopp, konsekvenser och komplikationer vid reumatoid artrit. En cohort på 180 patienter med RA följes från tidigt sjukdomsskede med standardiserade metoder. Många olika aspekter på sjukdomsutfallet studeras, exempelvis förlopp av leddestruktion, funktionsförmåga, olika sociala och psykologiska reaktioner samt ekonomiska konsekvenser. Funktionsförmågan har studerats både i enskilda leder, allmänt i dagligt liv och i arbetssituationen.
